SESEN aspires to be the voice for social enterprises in the region
SESEN aims to shape regional policy and to influence national strategies
This will be achieved by effectively linking the local level with the regional and national arenas, thereby ensuring decision making is based on accurate local knowledge and enabling formal communication and coordination region wide, both top down and down up to ensure:
Balanced, quality provision of support across the region, and a spread of opportunities for the different counties.
Support provided via different networks is innovative and progresses with the times to allow our social enterprises to enjoy the benefits of informed, creative policies
The promotion and championing of social enterprise including sharing best practice within and without the region.
The identification of business opportunities that enable the sustainability of SESEN and the county networks it represents.
The development of relationships with organisations both inside nad ouside the South East region, as well as lobbying where appropriate.
SESEN also aims to ensure accountability of representation, and undertake reviews of SESEN’s performance to establish achievements and future challenges.
SEEDA launched the enabling regional framework to support social enterprise in the South East: “Social Enterprise: it’s business, but not as we know it” in November 2004. An integral part in the delivery plan of this strategy was the establishment of countywide and sub-regional networks for social enterprise. SESEN is the regional network consisting of the following nine networks:
